Electric Car Charging Points for Business

Option 1: Less Electrical load, longer charging times

Standard charging points rated at 3 kW. Charging your EV at this rate will take around eight to 14 hours, depending on mileage range and storage capacity in kWh.

Slow electric car charging points rated at 3 kW are mainly installed on domestic properties or in businesses where EVs are plugged in for a full working day. At 3 kW, these EV charge points add very little to the electrical load of the property or business, akin to a kettle being switched on. Often your electrical infrastructure will not need major upgrades to facilitate the installation of them.

Adding an EV charging points onto any electrical distribution system needs an electrical design and load assessment, as you may not have the capacity on-site to install multiple EV points without an electrical upgrade.

We offer a full design and installation service, including civil engineering work where required, to meet your business’ needs. Providing electric charging points for your visitors and staff can provide real value, boosting your brand image whilst also supplementing your CSR efforts.

Option 2: Fast Electric Car Charging Stations

Fast charging points rated between 7-22 kW. Charging your EV at this rate takes around four to six hours depending on mileage range and storage capacity in kWh – if you’re unsure whether this will be sufficient for your company’s EV fleet, we can guide you through the selection process during our initial consultation.

Fast electric car charging points are normally the highest possible option for standard domestic properties, businesses or dedicated charging stations for car parks, particularly where the dwell time is around the four- to six-hour mark.

These are the most popular due to their fast charge capacity, meaning staff and visitors can quickly charge their cars whilst in a meeting or parked at a shopping centre. This type of charger has increased in demand over the past few recent years, as the improved standard and energy capacity of EV technology facilitated this jump in charging point power without damaging the battery over the long term.

    Option 3: Solar carport.

A solar carport is a dual purpose, stand-alone structure that provides shelter for vehicles, whilst generating clean, renewable energy from the sun. This free electricity can then either be used on-site and (or) used to charge a fleet of electric vehicles.

Solar carports are designed to cover many styles of car parking spaces and can be designed to seamlessly blend in with the surrounding environment. They can be customised and equipped with gutters to harvest rain water or even have branding applied.

Solar carports can increase land value and create revenue opportunities for site operators from EV charge-points, branding and advertising.
